Møn being one, if maybe not the most picturesque island in Denmark, makes it easy to find incredible bike routes for your e-bike adventure. On most of the island, as well as its surroundings, the majority of roads lead to yet another idyllic town or hidden beach to visit. It is easy to find the main attractions as well as creative art galleries by simply following road signs, and an electric bike will take you further than you will normally go.

However welcoming and straightforward Møn is, we would like to present you some popular routes, making your electric bike adventure even better.

You will also find 3 bike dedicated routes to follow through the magnificent Klinteforest on the cliff. At last we will spoil some of our favorite spots to visit on Møn on electric bicycle.

This way you can better plan your holiday, and get the most out of your e-bike rental, whether it being a sporty or a bike holiday for the whole family.

The 3 panoramic routes

421) DENMARKS MOUNTAINROAD – ON TOP OF THE WORLD – 18 KM

  • Forest roads and paved country roads with moderate traffic. Strongly hilly terrain, where an electric bike will come into its own.

Experience breath-taking nature on this Panoramic Route, named Denmarks Mountain tape. This route offers magnificent views of cliffs, sea, and winding landscapes with meadows and forests. The undulating path may leave you breathless and sweaty, but the reward is worth it and your e-bike will serve its purpose!

The route:

Start your journey at Camping Møns Klint, only 1.5 km from the cliffs. Here, you can fill your water bottle and use the facilities. Ride along winding roads to the charming Liselund Park, a perfect spot to take a break in its picturesque setting. Continue through the open countryside until you reach Sømarkedyssen, a stunning viewpoint towering 90 meters above the sea, providing a panoramic view of East Møn. At Magleby Church, you can pump your bike and refill your water bottle during the church’s opening hours. The route continues towards Klintholm Gods. Before reaching Mandemarke. Here it is advised to consider a detour to Klintholm Harbor (+5.5 km), offering an excellent sandy beach, perfect for a swim. You will also find a farm shop, an ice cream parlor, a grocery store, and a few good restaurants and pizzeria. Opt to take a 2-hour boat trip around Møns Klint on the sail cutter Discovery. 

When back on route at Mandemarke it’s also time to rest and relax at the Mandemarke rest area, equipped with tables and benches. You can then follow Denmark’s most beautiful “mountain road,” Busenevej, for breathtaking views of the Baltic Sea and Southeast Møn. The winding hills will make you appreciate the extra push from the electric bicycle!  You may want to make a stop at the Høvblege rest area. From here you continue on Stengårdsvej in Klinteskoven (through the forest), with GeoCenter and the magnificent Møns Cliff at the top. Møns Klint boasts impressive chalk cliffs and a turquoise sea, making it one of Denmark’s most beautiful coastal stretches. Reach the highest point, Dronningestolen, rising 128m above the sea, and immerse yourself in the mesmerizing colors of Møns Klint. Finally, cycle through Klinteskoven back to Camping Møns Klint, accompanied by the soothing sound of the sea and the forest.

422) Island Hopping – Ulvshale Beach to Nyord – Stege – 29 km/42 km

  • Paved main roads with light traffic. Telefonstien: Gravel and forest roads (avoid loading). Maximum 3% slopes.

Nyord is a small, yet interesting peninsula island located just off the eastern coast of Møn. It is connected to Møn by a causeway, cars are forbidden for visitors and you’ll get to bike through a quite unique landscape, along the beautiful Ulvshale beach.There are lots of opportunities for birdwatching on your way through spectacular nature.

Once there, you will discover that Nyord is quite picturesque with a charming village atmosphere, and a special architectural style. There is more than a few handicrafts shops and great local eateries, as well as a small grocery store with local goods and icecreams.

This tour takes you through the serene countryside of North West Møn, providing a tranquil and picturesque experience. The route is accessible for e-bike cyclists and can be combined with the Panorama Route 423, known as the “Sweet Tour,” totaling 42 km.

The route:

Begin your journey in Stege, cycling down Storegade and passing notable landmarks such as Møns Museum, Mølleporten (the historical medieval city gate), and Stege Vold, where informative signs shed light on the ancient ramparts. Continue along Klintevejen towards Udby, a charming little village with roadside stalls and a scenic village pond. Ride on to Ulvshale Beach, passing by enticing roadside stalls and tempting ice cream vendors by the shore. The Ulvshale peninsula boasts beach embankments composed of sand, gravel, and particularly flint, which the sea has carved from the Cliffs of Møn and deposited here.

Follow Ulvshalevej as it meanders through the forest, and revel in the unexpected expanse that unfolds before you at Ulvshale-løbet and the Nyord Bridge. On the other side of the bridge, vast salt marshes stretch out, forming part of a significant bird reservation. Ascend the bird tower to savor an excellent view of the meadows, Ulvshaleløbet, and Møn. The salt meadows give way to a sprawling morain hill.

Nyord Landsby (Nyord Village) beckons with its meticulously maintained houses, historic farms, elegant octagonal church, Møllestangen (Denmark’s smallest museum), and a collection of small businesses and galleries. Visit the charming harbor and, if you’re fortunate, seize the opportunity for a boat trip on the old mail boat Røret, ferrying you back to Stege. Alternatively, explore the Hyldevang Nature Centre, featuring shelters and a playground.

For the return journey, cross the Nyord Bridge and soon after, turn right onto Telefonstien. Please note that Telefonstien is a gravel and forest track unsuitable for bicycles with trailers or heavy loads (opt for Ulvshalevej instead), but perfect for e-bikes. As you crest Hegnede Bakke (hill), make a right turn onto the cycle path leading towards Stege.

This remarkable Island Hopping route from Ulvshale Beach to Nyord and back to Stege covers a distance of approximately 29 km, or 42 km when combined with the Panorama Route 423. It allows you to immerse yourself in the serene countryside, encounter captivating landscapes, and experience the unique charm of Nyord Island.

423) LIFE IS SWEET – 21KM / 42KM

  • Paved main roads with only light traffic. Max. 2% slopes. 

The Life is Sweet Panorama Route, is a delightful choice for families. This route leads you on your electric bike, along peaceful roads by the enchanting cove. You will pedal through gentle slopes and quaint villages adorned with timber-framed houses and rural charm. It provides enjoyable activities for children and charming eateries along the way. For an extended adventure, you can combine this route with the Island Hopping Panorama Route, totaling 42 kilometers.

The route:

Begin your journey at the E-bike shop in Stege Center, and start by visiting Møn Bolcher, located in the old sugar factory. Here you and your children can create your own lollipops. As you make your way towards Stege Nor (Cove), turn right at the end of Ørnebjergvej. You will now bike around the cove, which was formed during the last ice age and now offers a 7-kilometer-long lagoon with low saline water.

Continue your ride along Søndersognsvej, passing through Svensmarke with its picturesque timber-framed houses and blooming hollyhocks. Take a break near Svensmarke Spring, relishing the scenic view of the cove. For an exciting experience, paddle through Stege Nor in a canoe, available at StaySail, why not right?

Next, venture towards Keldbylille town, where you have the option to take a detour to the historic Museumsgården and the modern dairy farm, where the famous Møn Is is made (local ice cream). Pedal onward, passing Keldbylille town and the golf course, – remember to stop and admire the remarkable Keldby Church. The church dates back to the 13th century and boasts some of Denmark’s finest Middle Ages artworks!

If you’re feeling tired, you can head straight back to Stege along the N8 cycling path on Klintevej. Alternatively, continue along small roads between various fields, heading towards Ullemarke, passing through Udby. Here you turn left onto Dirkvej through Udby/Stege Skov (Udby/Stege Forest). The forest is relatively young and features a variety of trees, lakes, paths, barbecue areas, and shelters. A good place to enjoy a sandwich or just enjoy the moment.

Trehøjevej offers the opportunity to extend your route to northwest Møn along the Nyord Panorama Route 422 (+24 km). Ulvshalevej provides a scenic view of the Lindholm and Nyord islands.

The trip concludes in the heart of the medieval town of Stege. One final sweet experience in Stege awaits you at the E-bike shop with our delicious desserts, that you can enjoy in our Cafe. If you want to bring some delicacies home, Lene Evers Chokolade, is located in the old detention center, offering exclusive homemade chocolates.

Klinteskoven

Klinteskoven offers a chance to experience the beauty of Møns Klint from a different perspective, immersing yourself in the tranquility of the forest while enjoying the breathtaking coastal views and the small slopes and hills that make it extremely fun for a bike ride. It’s a popular destination for nature lovers, mountainbikers, hikers, and those seeking a peaceful retreat in the midst of nature’s wonders. 

If you wish it is possible to stay the night in one of the shelters in the forest. Be aware that booking is required as they are very popular.

What to see: Klinteskoven is a bit of a mythical forest with lots of old folklore and a special ambiance. It is also part of the Møns klint nature reserve, which is dedicated to the preservation and protection of its unique natural environment. The reserve is recognized for its geological significance, biodiversity, and scenic landscapes. You will find a beautiful and diverse range of plants and animal species. The great amount of beech trees grow in a funny spirally way, due to the high amount of limestone in the soil making it alkaline. Thats what shapes the trees in this abnormal way. During spring and summer the forest bed is covered in wild flowers. Note that it is strictly forbidden to collect anything in the forest.

How to get there: Klinteskoven lies at the very east of Møn and stretches along the coast. The edge of Klinteskoven begins about 20 kilometers (miles) from Stege center and from Camping Møns klint you are practically already there. There are several roads leading to Klinteskoven that are accesible on an electric bicycle, which one you choose depends on you. 

Designated bike paths through Klinteskoven

In Klinteskoven you will find 3 marked routes meant for MBT and ideal on E-bikes. 

You can start all three from either the Geocenter museum, or Havrelukke parking. 

It is possible to find water fountains to fill your water bottle as well as toilettes. 

Blue = Easy/Good with children

Distance: 5 km 

Elevation gain: 140 m 

Singletrack: 0% 

Estimated time: 30 minutes to 1 hour

Red and Black= Difficult, but fine with electric bike

Length: 6 km 

Elevation gain: 170 m 

Singletrack: 90% 

Estimated time: 30 minutes to 1.5 hours

Our favourite spots on Electric bike around Møn

Campground – Shelters, by the sea (Kraneled)

There exist more than a few excellent shelter spots around Møn, but this one has a particular location just meters from the shore. Here you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean and wake up surrounded by blue and green colors.

There are 2 shelters that can accommodate up to 6 people each, and there is room for 2 smaller tents on the site. 

It is a primitive campground, created for you that likes to enjoy nature. On site you find a composting toilet and a fire pit area with grill, to prepare food and boil water etc. There is no available water, but you can find that 3 km away on the gable of the barn at Højholt, Busenevej 40, 4791 Borre. 

How to get there:

The location is easily accessible if you arrive from the waterside, for example, in a sea kayak. You can dock directly on the coast. If you arrive on foot, by bike, or by car, take the route from Kraneled and head directly south on Skansevej. Continue south until you reach the coast, where you’ll find a small parking area. Turn left at the beach and follow the signs to the campground. Enjoy!

Liselund Slotspark (Castlepark) Distance from Stege: 17 km

This picturesque and quite grandiose park that surrounds the Liselund Manor, is the perfect place for a picnic  on East Møn. It is simple to get there on your Electric bike whether your starting point is from our e-bike rental shop in Stege or anywhere else on East Møn.

Steeped in history and natural beauty, Liselund Slotspark is a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquility and a glimpse into the past.

Once there, you park your bike at the entrance and continue by foot. As you enter Liselund Slotspark, you’ll be transported to a different era. The park is renowned for its romantic landscape and invites you to take a leisurely stroll along the winding paths, lined with majestic trees and vibrant flowers. Admire the carefully manicured and colorful gardens, feed the peacocks and ducks by the lake, and listen to the soothing sounds of the nearby waterfall.

One of the main attractions is the Liselund Manor House itself. This neoclassical gem was built in the late 18th century and showcases exquisite architectural details. Step inside to explore the beautifully furnished rooms and immerse yourself in the elegance of a bygone era.

Another highlight at Liselund is the Chinese Pavilion. This unique structure stands as a testament to the fascination with the exotic in the 18th century. From the pavilion, you’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding park and the nearby coastline.

In addition, Liselund Slotspark offers various walking trails, picnic spots, and viewpoints where you can soak in the beauty of the Danish countryside. Don’t miss the opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the park’s idyllic landscapes and take a view to the sea on top of the hill.

How to get there:

Beginning you drive on a fully charged Electric bike, from Stege Centre, head southeast out of town, passing by the old gates of Stege. From Storegade, continue on Klintevej and follow the road signs that point towards Liselund and Busenevej. Enjoy the scenic ride through the charming countryside of Møn, taking in the natural beauty along the way. As you arrive, you’ll find Liselund Slotspark located conveniently at Busenevej 40 in the village of Borre. Find a secure spot to park your electric bike before entering the park.
